CH 6: Turtledy Durdledy at the Circus

One day there was a big circus in town. Turtledy Durdledy could hear the music playing way down on Johnson's Branch. He begged his mother to take him to the circus. After long begging and crying, his mother decided to just give Turtledy Durdledy some money to go by himself.

Turtledy Durdledy combed his hair and washed his face and hands, shined his shoes and away he went to the circus.

First he looked in on the snakes.

"Oh my," he said. "I see these every day."

Next he looked in the booth where the fat lady sat. No that wasn't much fun, 'cause his mother was fat. So what.

Then it was time for the big tent show to start. He hurried in and got a very-middle front seat. Then around came the horses with pretty ladies. Then the elephants and bears.

Turtledy Durdledy wasn't very happy over anything.

Then out came the clowns. Now this was fun. Fun for Turtledy Durdledy. He laughed and laughed.

Then one clown saw him laughing so hard that he came up to Turtledy Durdledy.

He said, "Little fellow, will you ride in my little wagon around the ring?"

Oh boy, Turtledy Durdledy was so glad he said, "Oh yes. Let me ride." So 'round and 'round they went.

So when the show was all over, and Turtledy Durdledy was at home in bed, he still was laughing about the most wonderful time he had at the circus.
